Hon. C.S.

Enclosure 8.

316

I forward a complaint from Ir. Fisher as to insuf-

ficiency of assistance given to him for carrying on the work

allotted to him.

On work, (Quarters at Tai Po), which he has in hand,

is practically completed and in view of nie complaint, I do not now propose to allot the Extension of the Tai Po Land

office to him as I originally intended.

The works he will thus have in hand will be the fol-

1) Law Courts.

2) New Government Offices.

3) Market at Kowloon Point.

Stairway to Ballroom, Government House.

I recognize the fact that he and his assistant (r. Little) have plenty to do but I think they ought to be able

to overtake the work. Their two principal works are within easy range for inspection and the remaining two are not far

distant.

With regard to office accommodation, I think r.

case here.

Mr. Fisher's reference to the procedure followed

in the measuring up of the Admiralty Works is absurd and so

is the procedure to which he alludes, It is probably a

survival of some ancient practice.

I would point out that Ir. Fisher undertook the design and supervision of the school of Anatomy, which he might

have declined if he found his official duties so onerous as he

represents.
